The Glow of Discovery – Unlocking Nature’s Living Light
13-17 April 2026
Huia, Waitākere Ranges Regional Park, Auckland
The presence of the Latia neritoides—the world’s only bioluminescent freshwater limpet—is more than a biological anomaly; it is a glowing testament to the hidden complexities of New Zealand’s ancient ecosystems. At The Glow of Discovery, students don’t just observe the dark—they illuminate the unknown through rigorous field entomology and aquatic research.
Primary Fieldwork: Master the art of specimen collection and preservation, using pitfall traps and blacklight lures to document nocturnal biodiversity in the Waitākere Ranges.
Aquatic Investigation: Journey into Huia’s secret streams to study the rare bioluminescent limpet, analyzing the environmental conditions that allow this unique species to thrive.
Citizen Science & Mentorship: Bridge the gap between local exploration and global data with professional-grade iNaturalist tutorials and ecological workshops led by conservation experts.
The Architecture of Excellence: A Three-Tier Evolution
Education is not about collecting skills; it is about the continuous expansion of perception.

YES! MAGIC Club
The Scale of Impact
Using the MAGIC Pathway, students move from "Backyard to Global" thinking, applying their interdisciplinary knowledge to real-world social entrepreneurship.
We break the walls between Biology, Physics, Geography, Chemistry, Social Studies, Law, and Economics. Camp is the "Data Input" phase where students learn to see the deep connections between subjects (The Natural Laws).
The pinnacle of the journey. Scholars integrate Natural Laws with Moral Laws to produce original Capstone projects that reflect world-class leadership and an authentic worldview.
Our alumni prove that a spark of curiosity at age 13 becomes a global academic path by age 18.
YES, I can do this!
Sabrina Lu 2017 YES! Camp Alumnus
Washingto University in St. Louis (Environmental Science)
Before going to New Zealand, I wasn't sure I could stand against the majority for what is right. YES! Camp showed me that a 'sustainable future' isn't a utopia—it’s a reality we build through courage and action.
Jacky Peng 2017 YES! Camp Alumnus
University of Minnesota (Food Science)
I arrived as an exam-taking machine, lost in a fog of homework and games. YES! Camp was the lighthouse that helped me find my flight path toward improving the environment and fighting poverty.
Beyond the Theory: Solving Complex Real-World Problems
David Zhang 2024 YES! Camp Alumnus
The University of New South Wales (Electrical Engineering (Honours) + Master of Biomedical Engineering)
I really saw the value of interdisciplinary thinking, especially when engineering, science, and social factors come together. The experience pushed me to think more practically about real-world constraints. Overall, the camp shaped how I now approach complex problems and reinforced my interest in interdisciplinary learning at UNSW.
